What comes next for today

It turns out that this afternoon will be a new journey to the metro station in hopes of learning how to use a new app for the visually impaired in order to find the correct boarding procedure an the like.

The app in question is called “Navilens” which I’ve gone ahead and installed and seems pretty simple to use, apparently a new type of QR code was created in the opes of being used in long distance scenarios to allow a higher range of error for one to point at it with a camera. I’ll note my findings later this afternoon.

The application

This afternoon I got a chance to take a look at the recommended application listed above to attempt to effectively use the metro station.

My thoughts are below:

  • Pros
    • provides accurate information when pointing to the alternative “QR” style codes.
    • provides audible sounds when presented with these codes
    • provides a pretty decent margin of error when pointing at these codes
  • Cons
    • This isn’t a fault of the application but I wish the codes were placed lower than they are as it feels (at least to me) a little weird holding my phone somewhat high in order to have it capture the respective code.

I haven’t gotten too much of a chance to actually effectively use these codes, but the above are my initial impressions, at some point I can hopefully stand in the metro for a few moments in the future.
